How to find the heart of a great story, so you can cut the fluff, focus on the details that matter most, and capture the story’s full essence in your song.
Specific structures and writing strategies great ‘songtellers’ across different genres use to tell powerful stories through lyrics.
How to add dimension to your stories and get beyond surface-level writing, so you can craft powerful lyrics that leave a lasting impression on listeners.

THE ART OF
THE CO-WRITE
*** Co-Led by Cassidy Dickens + Emily ***
Take a glance at the writing credits on your favorite song. Chances are, it’s a product of creative collaboration between two or more great writers. Co-writing is a longstanding Nashville Music Scene tradition and a fabulous way to strengthen your skills and expand your impact as a writer. In this session, we’ll explore…
Why bother co-writing at all, how to decide whether a song should be a solo or group write, and how to find great collaborators.
The ins and outs of a successful co-write—what to do, what not to do, and how to set your writing group up for success before your write even starts.
How to honor the group process and hold space for everyone to express their ideas authentically, without losing sight of your vision for your song or becoming a creative doormat.

No worries! All workshops will be recorded. You’ll receive a video recording of every session within 24 hours of the workshop.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
CASSIDY DICKENS
Songwriter, Artist, & Founder of Lyric Creative Co.
Marrying a powerful sense of traditional storytelling with a modern indie-folk sensibility, West Virginian singer-songwriter Cassidy Dickens is breathing new life into the world of acoustic Americana.
Soon after releasing her debut album, Ghosts, in 2016, Cassidy made the leap from small-town Appalachia to Music City, where she cut her teeth collaborating with up-and-coming Nashville recording artists and earned a Josie Music Award nomination for her songwriting.
Drawing cross-genre comparisons, Cassidy’s voice and songwriting style have been likened to artists ranging from Alanis Morisette to Alison Krauss.
Today—with more than 15 years of touring, 7 years of professional songwriting, two albums, and several singles under her belt—she’s thrilled to be back at home in West Virginia, where she continues to perform, write, and collaborate with other artists. Her third album, All I’m Missing, is slated for release in summer 2024.
Emily Myers
Songwriter & Artist
Emily Myers' journey into music began in Jefferson City, MO, where she found comfort and inspiration in nature's melodies. Raised in a creative family, she developed a deep appreciation for the arts early on.
Music wasn't just a hobby for Emily; it was her passion. When most children were learning their ABCs, Emily was composing her own tunes and made her stage debut at age seven. When high school rolled around, she took her talents all the way to Carnegie Hall, setting the stage for an epic musical journey ahead.
While in college at Oklahoma City University, Emily's focus shifted towards crafting catchy pop tunes and pouring her heart into songwriting. There, she found her groove, blending genres and developing authentic stories through her music.
Emily's distinctive sound is shaped by her many influences, spanning from the soul-stirring hums of Aretha Franklin and Bonnie Raitt to the elegant storytelling of Brandi Carlile and Tenille Townes, but her voice remains uniquely hers.
What makes Emily stand out is her commitment to keeping it real. Her songs don't fit neatly into boxes—they're like snapshots of life; full of love, loss, and the strength to keep going.
In 2023, Emily released her debut EP, "Unwrite," and is now gearing up for her debut album. With each note, she aims to inspire and empower her listeners.
