Cassidy Dickens

Growing up in southern West Virginia, I was surrounded by a rich tapestry of storytelling and the kind of natural beauty that fills every day with wild inspiration.

I was also surrounded by people who, for a variety of complex cultural and economic reasons, were trapped in grueling careers they absolutely hated. 

I’ve always had a deep gratitude for my ancestors who made a living mining coal, distilling shine, digging graves, and working as many shifts as it took to make ends meet. 

But even as a child I knew, deep in my bones, that I was called to something else. I didn’t know how, but I knew I HAD to find a career path that lit my soul up.

At the tender age of 12, I accepted my first paying gig as a musician. I played two hours of my own songs at my best friend’s grandpa’s restaurant… and I was hooked. 

In the years since, I’ve fanned that flickering flame of inspiration into a full-on creative conflagration. I took my music dreams out of the West Virginia mountains to Nashville, where I spent 7+ years writing and singing under the neon lights. 

I’ve toured around the US, released two full-length albums (with more on the way soon! eek!), written for film & TV, and collaborated with dozens of other recording artists.

In 2017, my passion for independent artistry led me to found Lyric Creative Co.—an online marketing company dedicated to helping creatives, coaches, authors, speakers, and other visionary business owners get their brilliance out into the world. I’ve helped my clients earn multiple millions of dollars doing work they love, all through the power of storytelling and genuine human connection. 

Today, I’m thrilled to still be actively growing my music career AND supporting other creatives at Lyric. I’ve returned home to West Virginia, where I’m on a mission to help artists (especially women and multipassionates) realize that you can build a successful creative career from anywhere. I’m also the host of this community’s sister podcast, Getting Creative.

I was always a natural-born dreamer with a wild imagination and a sense of wanderlust—but also a strong sense that I needed to do the “right” and responsible thing with my life.

I did just that. I followed the traditional path, earning my college degree, getting married, starting a family, and working traditional jobs around my childrens’ schedules while raising my three babies. My children were my heart and my creative outlet. 

When my husband’s career took our family across the country (from our home in West Virginia, out to California), I found with no full-time job, one child in college, and two at the precipice of their teenage years. 

As I tried to figure out what life on the west coast / without small children might look like, I started making jewelry. This was when my jewelry business, Pebble Nest, was born. 

Over the past 10+ years, Pebble Nest has blossomed into a full-time business. Today, I design and create artisan jewelry, which I sell at festivals, shops, and galleries across the US, often while traveling. I also offer workshops and classes for other creatives. 

I love to support other artists and believe one of my gifts is being able to see potential and greatness in others, believing in them and encouraging them to see new possibilities in themselves while helping them find their path.
