CASSIDY DICKENS:
All I’m Missing
When Cassidy Dickens wrote her song, “All I’m Missing,” it was the first vocal acknowledgment of a quiet, tender ache in her heart.
An ache that anyone who’s ever left what was familiar in search of a new life knows all too well.
An ache that questioned whether maybe—just maybe— it was time to head home.
Growing up in southern West Virginia, one message rang out over and over again:
”If you want to be successful, you have to leave.”
Like so many ambitious Appalachians, Cassidy took this to heart.
As soon as the opportunity presented itself, she packed her bags and set out for the great beyond.
From California’s Central Coast to Florida’s Gulf Shores, Cassidy has performed for audiences all across the United States.
In 2017, her journey brought her to Nashville. Here, she decided to build a new home.
She dug deep into the world of songwriting and made seven years’ worth of beautiful memories.
But as much as she loved Nashville—something felt unsettled. She couldn’t shake the feeling that the mountains were calling her back.
That calling set off a domino effect. She followed her heart back to the Mountain State, determined to merge the music career she’d worked so hard to build with the sense of home her soul yearned for.
She spent a winter hunkered down on her grandparents’ former property, reflecting on her relocation, learning music production, and writing down all the stories and questions that bubbled to the surface.
She took all those stories and questions from heart, to pen, to paper, to strings, to microphone…
…and eventually, they bloomed into her newest album, “All I’m Missing.”
Named for the song that started it all, “All I’m Missing” is a celebration of Appalachia, home, and the people and places who make us who we are.
Cassidy’s third full-length album, the record includes music created with Nashville-based songwriters and producers intertwined with songs written and produced independently from her home in West Virginia.
“All I’m Missing” will be available November 15.
